The mission of the Alaska Teen Media Institute is to provide teens with the tools and training needed to produce stories and with the opportunity for their stories - told in their own voices - to be shared through a variety of media. ATMI believes the teen perspective is valuable and under-represented. The Alaska Teen Media Institute is a program under the umbrella of Spirit of Youth, 501 (c)(3).

A Conversation with Tatiana Watkins-Snow | Zoom Room #18
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
On Friday, April 23rd, a peaceful protest was held in downtown Anchorage where a large crowd of attendees held up signs that said things like “Black Lives Matter” and “Stop Asian Hate.”
ATMI senior producer Cornilius Nelson was in attendance and had a brief moment to talk to the event organizer: Tatiana Watkins-Snow, a senior at West High School.
A few weeks later, Cornilius connected with Tatiana over Zoom to talk more about putting the rally together and what inspired it. Their conversation included youth activism and growing up in minority families in America, and broadened into discussing other social issues important to them.
They spoke on May 20th, 2021.
Hosted by Yule Zhang.
Music by Kendrick Whiteman.
